New Ontario Barn Quilt Trail

January 26, 2012

I’m always so excited when I hear about another heritage project here in Ontario, but when they involve quilts and/or barn quilts it’s doubly thrilling!

A new barn quilt trail for Norfolk county will have agricultural buildings and barns decorated with large wooden quilt block art pieces. As with most barn quilt trails, the counties involved will be leading travelers off of the main roads and to heritage sites, many related to the War of 1812. There are other quilt barn trails in Ontario but once complete, this route is predicted to be the biggest in the province. The new quilt barn trail will launch project in May.

Volunteers are needed and there is a workshop for those who want to help on Friday, January 27) at the Waterford Heritage and Agriculture Museum. All are welcome. Read this article at the Brantford Expositor for more information.
